Originally built in 537 and named Baozhuangyan Temple it was destroyed in a fire. Upon rebuilding it was then named Jinghui Temple. It’s current name was given by a writer who saw six Banyan trees in the temple - and henceforth it was called Liurong Temple (Six Banyan Temple).
