Anyone hiking through Weistrach should plan a short detour to the parish church of St. Stephen. This late-Gothic hall church impresses with its ornate ribbed vault and neo-Gothic spire – a true gem both inside and out. A tranquil place to pause and reflect – and a small architectural highlight on the way through the Mostviertel region.

The shape of the vault is significant in terms of art history. This sling rib configuration is an intricate late Gothic vault design. This form of increase in dynamics is widespread throughout Europe, while the cassettes with diamond inclusions that appear in the Weistrach choir can only be found in connection with Steyr and the so-called quarter lade.
