As a limestone gorge, Cheddar is abundant in all sorts of caves and holes. The Bake Hole is a large hole on the cliff top walk and while it doesn't go anywhere, it's still impressive. It's around 16 feet (5 m) deep and 23 feet (7 m) tall.

Limestone cave on the west side behind Lion Rock. The direct path is closed. The alternative route leads in a wide arc along the stone road at the top of the cliffs. Pleistocene remains have been found in the cave.
