      In the Ammerland district of Lower Saxony, the so-called landscape windows are actually five smaller observation towers from which visitors can enjoy a view of typical regional landscape features. He should view and experience the northern German landscape as if through a window.

      These observation towers were built as part of the Lower Saxony State Horticultural Show in 2002 and were intended to provide a conscious counterpoint to the colorful floral splendor of the show by showing the visitor the austere beauty of the northern German natural and cultural landscape.
