Once upon a time, an impatient carter rode his horses to death in a storm at the Cologne Heck between Kreuztal-Krombach and Altenkleusheim - since then a horrible figure has appeared at the border at midnight during a thunderstorm. At least that's how they say it...

Past the wind turbines of the Eternal Carter and you reach the source of the same name. The clear bubbling water invites you to refresh yourself, but says nothing about the origin of the strange name. Old legends tell of carters who brought ores to the Sauerland in the Electorate of Cologne on these old trade routes from Siegerland. It is obvious that this did not always happen without problems in such mountainous forests in those days and contributed to the emergence of corresponding legends.

If you are also interested in technology, a short walk up to the district border could also be worthwhile. There is a wind turbine with the sonorous name "Ewiger Fuhrmann". With a total height of 150 meters, it was the tallest wind turbine in the world when it was completed in 2000. Every year, the "wind wheel" generates around 3 million kilowatt hours of electrical energy from the wind, covering the needs of 800 average households.
