The castle can be visited at any time. Sturdy shoes are recommended as it is a narrow, partly steep path. Access to the castle is not barrier-free.

Beautiful view from the highest point over Mörnsheim and the Gailachtal. Very nice external view of the castle from the Halsgraben side, where the parking lot for visitors is also located.

The Staffelburg Mörnsheim, which sits as a summit castle on the 510 meter high castle hill, was built by King Conrad I in 912/933.

A keep with an octagonal tower was added to the fortifications in 1225/28 by Prince-Bishop Henry I.

The remains of the walls are accessible, the well-preserved part is privately owned.
