Its history is a mystery, but news arrives from the year 1116, during a battle between the Christians of Toledo and the Muslims of Oreja. Warden Farax Abdalí was defeated near the Christian castle of Polán, which was perhaps under construction at the time.

Although its history is not known for sure, some documents mention it already at the beginning of the 12th century and according to the current remains it is presumed that its dimensions were even larger than the current ruins.
