Lindberg. Hiking in the Bavarian Forest has been enjoying great popularity for a long time. Local historian Sepp Probst knows: Even the good Lord was already strolling through the Bavarian tribal area at the time. Traces of him can still be found today at the so-called Hansl Cross near Lindberg in the Regen district. Today there is a place of pilgrimage at this point, but it is increasingly being forgotten. It is said that anyone who drinks the water of the “Herrgottstritt” can hope for a miraculous healing.

The Herrgottstritt is an indentation in a stone that resembles a footprint. When people discovered this depression, the legend arose that the Lord God was once present at this place - and left the imprint of his foot in the stone. Now whoever drinks the water that has accumulated in the hollow.....

........is supposed to experience healing effects according to legend. Other legends about the stone tell that the Virgin Mary left a footprint here when she was once pursued by the devil. The stone is at the Hansl cross between Lindberg and Ludwigsthal.

      Miraculous healing powers

The Hansl Cross also has its own history: when a man was working there in the forest in the middle of the 19th century, he was suddenly plagued by shortness of breath. It was so bad that he felt like suffocating. He saw that water had collected in the hollow of a stone, which he drank in hopes of relief. Immediately after drinking, the man was relieved of his shortness of breath - out of gratitude he erected a cross on the stone, the Hansl Cross, which was named after him. A saying can be read on a sign below the cross:
"Drink from the Herrgottstritt, then you will always stay healthy and fresh"
