    Beautiful views around the dam.

The riverside path at the Ködeltalsperre is asphalted - perfect for wheelchairs, strollers and bicycles. If you love nature hiking trails and want to do something good for your feet, you should walk away and prefer other paths🤷.

There are lovingly draped seating - ideal for families. (Recycle bins everywhere 👍👍👍 - really very clean)
The landscape at the dam is incredibly beautiful. Great views and insights... breathtakingly beautiful.

The drinking water dam Mauthaus - also called Ködeltalsperre - is a dam in Bavaria that was built between 1968 and 1972 near Kronach to supply drinking water. As a secondary purpose, it serves to protect against flooding, raise low water levels and generate electricity from hydropower. It was put into operation in 1975 and was the first Bavarian drinking water dam.
The dam is a rockfill dam with a clay core inner seal with transition zones on both sides and was founded on rock. The dam has a longitudinal control tunnel, a sealing curtain and a berm on both the water and air sides.
The water is extracted via an extraction tower. An overflow with two weir flaps on the left slope with a chute over the ridge serves as flood relief.
