A synagogue in Châlons-en-Champagne, which was located in the Rue de la Juerie (Jews' Alley), is documented as early as 1367. The synagogue, inaugurated on September 24, 1875, has Moorish style elements on the outside. Steps lead to its portal, spanned by a glazed horseshoe arch. The horseshoe arch rests on two columns that delimit the portal on the right and left. The whole portal is framed by a sculpted frame with intertwined ribbons. There is another window with a horseshoe arch to the right and left of the portal. On the first floor, above the portal, there is a triple window resting on four columns, with jagged arches, and to the right and left of it another window, also with jagged arches, resting on two columns. The triple structure of the ground floor is repeated on the second floor: in the middle a twin window with round arches and a rosette on each side, the tracery of which forms a Star of David. Akroter form the end of the roof, which is crowned in the middle by the tablets of the law.

The synagogue was built in 1874/75 according to the plans of the architect from Châlons-en-Champagne Alexis Vagny (1821-1888). On the same street there is a Protestant church built in 1880 in neo-gothic style.

Above the triple window on the first floor are the following Bible verses in Hebrew: How lovely are your dwellings, Lord of hosts! (Psalm 84).
