Difficult section of Cami de Cavalls, I recommend a full-face helmet and be careful. You may have to carry the bike on your shoulder in some sections. If necessary, get off the bike and continue on foot until the path is more favourable.

You can also leave this section through the parking lot and take the paved road to the Isla del Aire and its beautiful Lighthouse (worth the effort). It is ideal in spring or late September.

If we continue along the Torralba road to the south we will find the Cala'n Porter road, which we have to take towards Sant Climent and then turn right at the first deviation. In the cliffs that form the two coves there are some ninety caves artificially carved into the rock. It is the most important Talayotic necropolis in Menorca.

The first caves began to be chipped in the Bronze Age and the burial rite was carried out inside, while the largest and most accessible ones date back to the Iron Age and combined the burial rite with lime and cremations.

Practically all the caves have already been excavated and the material has been deposited in the Museum of Menorca. In Roman times it was no longer used as a necropolis, but it was still visited in mid-May where a religious pilgrimage was made. This is confirmed by the gravestones engraved in one of the caves, the Cueva d'es Jurat. Cales Coves was also important for being an ideal place to anchor boats, and for this reason its seabed was full of archaeological remains that have also been extracted and taken to the Museum.

Cales Coves is a small cove located on the south coast of the Spanish island of Menorca.
