The Wasungen Forestry Botanical Garden is a beautifully landscaped park that is open to the public at all times and is used for education and recreation.
Construction of the Wasungen Forestry Botanical Gardens began in 1974.
Wild tree and shrub species are planted and cared for here as part of a long-term program.
A visit is particularly worthwhile in May when the rhododendrons are in bloom.
The nature trail and garden can be reached from the edge of Wasungen in the direction of Eisenach directly on the B19 through the Borntal. (Source: outdooractive.com)

The botanical garden is located on a warm south-eastern slope of the Hümburg at an altitude of around 420 m above sea level. The foundation stone is medium-colored sandstone. This is where brown earth soils emerged. They offer good growing conditions, especially for conifers and rhododendrons. The Wasungen Arboretum mainly contains species from the European, North American and East Asian flora. 162 species of woody plants with 1,700 different species and forms grow on an area of around 5 hectares. The facility is open all year round and can be visited free of charge. (Info Forestry Botanical Garden Wasungen)
