This medieval castle is located in a strategic point: overlooking the Lungo Adda and in a pedestrian area full of bars, benches and fountains. The perfect place to stop! The Brivio Castle cannot be visited inside: it is currently a private residence. However, the exterior still retains its ancient charm.

The presence of a castle here was decidedly important historically. It is enough to remember how the Adda river was over the centuries, for example, the state border between the Serenissima Republic of Venice and the Duchy of Milan. From the 10th century, various walls and fortifications were erected to defend the populations from the barbarian invasions and the castle of Brivio is originally from that historical period.
The fortress first belonged to the royal court of Almenno and then ended up under the control of the bishops of Bergamo. In the towers we also find the remains of a medieval church.

      CHARACTERISTICS
The castle is set in a beautiful natural setting. It had a square plan with three towers at the corners (Falza tower, Mirabella tower and Castellano tower), the fourth tower probably never existed. No traces of the moat and the crenellated walkway remain but these two elements must have existed at the time.

Medieval castle of Brivio, very particular glimpse along the road between the river Adda and the castle.
