    Hiking

Half-height mountain boots are recommended, as you can easily slip down on the descent and otherwise the small lava stones will fall into your shoes. Those who are cautious also have a helmet with them for safety. The southern ascent is much warmer and tends to be snow-free in winter. From here there is a very nice view of Mount Etna away from the crowds of tourists. You can also enjoy the spectacle of active lava flows...
We also happened to meet a friendly local mountain guide who was traveling with his friends and who can be reached at aletnarock@gmail.com.

    Hiking

Pizzi Deneri (2847 m) is a contraction of “pizzi de’rineri” (the peaks of the sand gullies). It is arrival point of various hiking trails. For instance, one that starts from Rifugio Citelli and reaches the peak passing through Serra delle Concazze. The altitude difference gets to 1100 meters.
