The Belles Fontaines are also known as the cold springs of Gadot. The Belles Fontaines were built in 1744 on the cold fountain known as Gadot. Its stated aim was to provide the local population with an adequate flow of cold water, but also and above all to remind once again of the inevitable presence of the city. This monument was chosen in 1809 as the emblem for the seal of the Masonic lodge "L'Etoile de Chaudfontaine".
