The highest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis stands 4,413 feet (1,345 m) tall. A popular summit, attracting over 125,000 visitors each year, Ben Nevis is said to mean either 'mountain with its head in the clouds' or 'venomous mountain'. Snow often remains on the summit and in the north-facing corries into late spring. There's an emergency shelter on the summit.
