The first non-ferrous metal mine served as a supplier for the later built Saigerhütte Grünthal from the early 16th century. Today, a 180-meter-long section has been developed through the voluntary work of the Olbernhau mining association.
As early as the 16th century, mining in Olbernhau was first mentioned. Ore was also mined in this tunnel, later also for the nearby Saigerhütte. A few years ago, an association began to make parts of the mine accessible to visitors. Much has happened in the meantime, and the outdoor facilities have also gained many decorative elements.
