The decommissioned nuclear power plant Greifswald (more precisely: nuclear power plant Lubmin, also: nuclear power plant north) was in the municipal area of the seaside resort Lubmin near Greifswald and was the larger of the two operated nuclear power plants of the GDR. The nuclear power plant was officially called VE Kombinat Kernkraftwerke 'Bruno Leuschner' Greifswald. It was gradually put into operation in 1974, shut down in 1990, finally shut down in 1995 and has been in demolition ever since. Today's owners are the waste disposal plants for nuclear plants, which also operate the neighboring northern interim storage facility.
