The areas of the park had been bought from the farmers Westerdorf and Helbeck, who received a total of 58,000 Reichsmarks. The construction of the park then cost another 27,500 Reichsmarks. The original Kaiser Wilhelm Park encompassed what is now the northern part of the park within the same boundaries as it does today. To the south it ended at the underpass of the dam of the railway line, which was later closed. Since the 1920s it has extended to Palmbuschweg. In the east-west direction, the park is now bordered by cycle paths, which also formed the borders in their former function as railway lines. These railway lines, which have been converted into cycle paths and footpaths, are now used, along with other paths, to open up the Kaiser Wilhelm Park.
