    Lauchert spring
The Lauchert rises from several springs near Willmandingen in the Reutlingen district and around Melchingen in the Zollernalb district. Only one karst spring, officially known as the Lauchert spring, to the east of the village pours year-round. The longer and at times more water-rich Willmandinger source stream dries up in summer.

    Course
The Lauchert mainly runs in a southerly to south-easterly direction to near the town of Sigmaringen, from where it finally makes a wide loop to the north-east towards Bingen, before flowing into the Danube from the left and north-northeast below Sigmaringen in Sigmaringendorf. It is a little over 60 km long, has a few large tributaries and, on the lower reaches, a number of floodplain ditches that converge on the wide valley floor there. Because of the karst subsoil of the Alb, in addition to tributaries, a number of dry valleys also flow into the valley.

Small, well-maintained rest area directly at the Lauchertquelle. The hiking car park of the same name is in the immediate vicinity.
