Very interesting basalt formations. It is remarkable how the brook worked its way through this hard rock.

The stones are very slippery, especially in damp weather - good shoes and sure-footedness are required.

"Small ravine in the valley of the Little Kyll The Wolfsschlucht is the lower part of the so-called Horngraben, which extends from the Mosenberg chain to the Little Kyll A narrow path winds over smaller and larger lava and basalt lumps through the gorge.

Interesting for plant lovers: in the cool and humid ravine there are some rare plant species (which you can view or take pictures of, but leave it alone!). At the bottom of the gorge you can see large basalt columns in an old quarry. Here is also an information board as part of the Georoute with more information. In the middle of the Rhenish Slate Mountains basalt columns can be seen here on the way. A blackboard explains how it happened.

Pleasant, easy tour with an idyllic landscape. Almost all the time you walk along the little Kyll. The adventure trail with wind chime, hearing tube and co. is also interesting for playful adults.

The Hotel-Café-Restaurant Heidsmühle is the perfect place to start and stop off.

This section of the trail is especially beautiful and fairytale. However, you have to be fairly firm and like to climb on a bit slippery paths.

Not the short cut back to the Heidsmühle but climbing the canyon - is much more fun!

Perhaps the most beautiful section on the way from Manderscheid to the Windsborn crater lake. The Horngrabenbach eats itself steeper and steeper into the area. Shortly before the meeting with the Kleine Kyll, the brook worked its way deep into the lava and an approx. 100 m long path leads through the gorge. Stones and trees are covered with moss. Moisture is in the air and gives a wildly romantic impression, which the photos stored here cannot reproduce.

You rarely see such impressive natural monuments. The gorge is worth a detour.
