Hiking

The Battle of Hastings is one of the most famous battles in English History. It was actually fought here, in Battle, so named due to ts connection with Norman the Conqueror's defeat over King Harold in their fight for the English crown. Battle Abbey is said to have been built where it happened. The town also has a history of gunpowder production. Hiking

Pretty village. We were there for a medieval fair which was great fun for the kids, and having never seen a maypole dance I really enjoyed the display of several different dances - who knew there was a method to the ribbon twisting and lots of different patterns. Of course the jesters were the hit with all the kids!
