At the beginning of the 16th century, the Catholic Monarchs reconquered the territory of Axarquía and erected a church dedicated to San Jacinto in Macharaviaya. The structure was rebuilt in the 18th century, the works of which were completed in 1785, to be inaugurated two years later, on June 16. The church has a beautiful neoclassical facade, decorated with the coat of arms of Carlos III.
