St. Joseph's Church is located near the centrally located Frintrop shopping street. Construction began in 1874 - at that time still in an open field. The result was a three-aisled neo-Gothic brick hall church with cross-ribbed vaults on round pillars. The first construction phase was completed in 1877.

The transept, tower and choir were added in 1895-1896 as an extension to the church, which had become too small by then. This reversed the original eastern orientation to a western one.

The church has been a listed building since 1994.

A total of 450 seats are available.
