Beautiful wall drawing of an old steam train that seems to come out of the wall

Those steam trains were popularly known as 'La Cochinita' and served as short-distance transportation.
The section between Malaga and Velez-Malaga was inaugurated on January 23, 1908. The line ran along the sea, even on the beach. The second section to Ventas de Zafarraya was built as an extension of the line from Malaga to Velez-Malaga. In 1921 it reached Periana, and the following year the section to Ventas de Zafarraya, already in the province of Granada, was inaugurated. This last section was the most difficult to build due to the orography, so it was necessary to install three sections of rack and pinion track.
It was planned that this line would be extended to Granada, but the works were never extended beyond the 31 kilometers between Torre del Mar and Ventas de Zafarraya, until it was closed on May 12, 1960.
The line from Malaga to Velez-Malaga was the last to close, on April 22, 1968.
Although its route was dismantled, there are still some buildings of the old stations, such as those of Rincón de la Victoria, La Cala del Moral, Benajarafe or Torre del Mar, converted into exhibition halls, tourist offices and bus stations. One of the most striking areas are the old tunnels of El Cantal, used as a passage between La Cala del Moral and Rincón de la Victoria. The train tracks were dismantled in 1968, but going through them means entering into the history of the municipality of Rincon. The enclave was also a refuge for hundreds of thousands of people from Malaga who fled the capital after the arrival of Franco's troops in February 1937, in the episode known as 'La Desbandá'.
