The highest peak in this part of the Lake District at 2,631 ft (802 m), the Old Man of Coniston is an imposing rocky mountain overlooking Coniston Water and village. The eastern slope is littered with the remnants of mining history, and there are old copper mines at the base and slate mines higher up.

It's a tough run to get to the top, but once you're there you're rewarded with stunning views (on a clear day) and a long ridgeline to follow.
