Bronte Beach has a very dangerous rip known as the Bronte Express. The beach is patrolled daily (except winter) by full-time Waverley Council lifeguards and on weekends and public holidays by volunteer lifeguards from the Life Saving Club.

It is home to the Bronte Surf Life Saving Club and, having been established in 1903, is the oldest such organisation in the world.

A public park adjoins the beach, which has picnic areas and barbecue pits, but parking is limited and strict restrictions apply. The beach is served by bus 379 from Bondi Junction station. The beach is shaded by hills to the west and tends to become cool, windy and deserted towards the end of the afternoon.
