Once called Voyagers Park and later Ore Dock Park, this old industrial area was reclaimed in 1949 to create the new DM & IR Dock Park. This effort was a collaboration between the railroad and the Lake County Civic Association. In 1950 the park was rededicated as Paul H. Van Hoven Park.
