A farmer saw a wild boar rooting in the same place on two evenings. On the second evening, he chased the animal away and dug for it himself, finding a bell. It was taken to Rheinheim, but later given to the branch in Koppenwind. When it was rung there for the first time, it turned out to have a beautiful sound that could be heard as far away as Brach.

The monks there wanted to purchase the bell for their monastery and offered to fill the bell cavity with ducats. But the Koppenwinders wouldn't give up the bell, even for that much money, and now they tried to ruin it. A strong nail was driven into the top, and with it, its beautiful sound was largely lost.
