Hiking
The nature reserve, numbered NSG 0031, is 234.84 hectares.
It is almost entirely part of the FFH and EU bird sanctuary "Huy north of Halberstadt" and is entirely within the "Huy" landscape conservation area.
It initially consisted of the two nature reserves "Herrenberg" and "Vorberg im Huy", which have been protected since May 1, 1961.
Both protected areas were merged in 1985.
The district of Harz is the responsible lower nature conservation authority.
