Along the lower reaches of the Dyle River and along the Leibeek between Wijgmaal and Hever (an old Dyle bed), sinuous strips of moist or peaty alluvium occur at regular intervals, which can be considered relics of large, incised meanders. They are clearly distinguishable in size and radius from the numerous horseshoe-shaped free meanders that were cut off from the Dyle in the relatively recent past.
