The fountain by Hermann Kurt Hosäus, erected in 1914, is located on the Schleswig bank below the Hansa Bridge between the boat landing stage and the Menzel High School. The fountain, which was created in connection with the construction of the Hansa Bridge, shows a boatman sitting on a sandstone column about 4.0 m high with an accordion. In the upper area, four frog figures, which originally served as gargoyles, sit on consoles on the four main sides. Above the frog figures rises the capital-like end of the fountain, which also serves as the base for the crowning figure. On top of this stands a base in the shape of a harbor bollard. On the bollard, over which a fishing net is laid to dry, sits a boatman's boy in a graceful pose.
The boatman's fountain is no longer in use. Its twelve-sided basin (diameter about 2.80 m) is planted. It is a listed building.
