The Marchfeld Canal is an artificially constructed and near-natural channel in Lower Austria and Vienna and floods the Rußbach with water from the Danube. The 18-kilometer-long canal was put into operation in 1992 and is, among other things, an important water supplier for the vegetable farmers of the Marchfeld and a local recreation area.

I probably wouldn't even know about Fischerhütte, were it not positioned straight at the end of the Marchfeld Kanal. Best place to take a rest before continuing to the Donauinsel.
