Hiking
Lucca's 16th-century city walls are completely preserved. They are 4.2 km long and include eleven bastions and several gates. The city walls in their current form replaced and extended earlier Roman walls as well as a 12th/13th-century fortification, parts of which still remain. You can explore Lucca's old town on foot or by bicycle along the city walls.
