Typical DNT self-catering hut with food supply. For the hut you usually need a DNT key, which you only get as a member. Especially in summer it is very likely that someone is already there and you can get in without a key and, with luck, get a place to sleep. But you shouldn't rely on it. Apparently there is always a hut warden in the summer, who was also there when I was there and can help you. Overnight prices and food prices are displayed in the hut and can also be found online. You can pay with an invoice (as of July 22). It may take a while for the bill to arrive, mine for July came by mail in mid-November.

The way to the hut should not be underestimated. Even if the DNT states an average of approx. 6 hours as pure walking time, you should plan more time. Especially when it is wet and there is still old snow, the path can be more difficult and requires full concentration, especially on the last few kilometers before the hut. Snow bridges under which the meltwater flows can collapse. Most of the Norwegians I met there and who were only traveling with a hut backpack also took longer on their route than stated. Me and 2 girls, who walked the same route the day before me, needed about 9 hours (with only a short break for lunch). Don't count on cell phone reception. In places there is, but for the most part, at least I didn't have one. It is generally recommended to find out about current path conditions and closures from the DNT before the start of the tour. Elsewhere, for example, a bridge was swept away by the water masses the week before.
