Very nicely situated on the Lieser. If you treat yourself to a little rest, you will understand why the Romans chose this place!

The Roman villa, built 200 years after Christ, is considered one of the largest Roman estates north of the Alps. Today, only the remains of the manor house directly on the Lieser remain. Even then, the building was three-storey and rainwater was collected. Not much of the villa remains, but the detour from the Lieserpfad is short and well worth it.

Once the largest Roman estate north of the Alps around 200 AD, it's a shame how the ruins were handled. The majority was simply brutally destroyed during the construction of the motorway bridge in the 1970s, and what was left was ruined by amateurish "restoration". The canopy doesn't make everything better.
