About 3,000 years ago, farmers built mounds over the cremated remains of their relatives. Over the course of four to five centuries, the burial ground grew into a burial mound with - according to some estimates - over 3,000 dead. The burial mounds remained visible for centuries, until the nineteenth century and even to this day.
