The history of the town of Löwenstein is closely linked to the origins of the castle, which was built in the 11th century (circa 1080 to 1090) by the Counts of Calw.

Throughout the year, nature park guides Sabine Rücker, Walter Hieber, Gisela Weigle, and Michaela Köhler offer tours of the castle's history and tower climbs to interested visitors to the castle grounds. Free tours and various hands-on activities are offered throughout the year. Appointments can also be arranged outside of these hours.
