The Willibaldsbrunnen is a fountain in the middle of the market square in Eichstätt. The Willibaldsbrunnen on the marketplace with its magnificent historic buildings was built in 1695 by Jakob Engel. The bronze figure represents the city patron Willibald von Eichstätt dar. He was named after the founding of the monastery here around 740 by Winfried Boniface the first bishop of the emerging city. Willibald has been canonized since 989, which is why he is called St. Willibald.
