The church of St. Walburg in Eichstätt contains the grave of St. Walburga. It is therefore the most venerable pilgrimage site for this saint, who was particularly revered in the Middle Ages and is still so today. The baroque parish and monastery church of St. Walburg was built by Martin Barbieri between 1629 and 1631 on a medieval basis. Benedikt Ettl built the baroque tower in 1746.

The St. Walburg monastery in Eichstätt is a Benedictine abbey.
Here, the bones of Walburga, who died in 779, were brought by Bishop Otgar from Heidenheim monastery in 870/79 to the St. Walburga monastery, which was a crucifix church at the time.
The St. Walburga monastery building was donated in 1035 by Saint Luitger, Count of Lechtsgemünd and Graisbach.
