He is in the Mühltal on a kind of parking lot that is now in use. The area around the monument is neglected. This used to include a stone enclosure and benches for resting.
Opposite is the last operated under the name "Carl August" forest inn.
After giving up the restaurant in around 2018/19, it is now operated by the people of the former "Island" on the Inselplatz in Jena as an alternative residential and cultural property and operates under the name CARL A.
