On the Sautreiberweg you hike from Schwandorf in the Upper Palatinate Forest to the border with the Czech Republic and the vast Bohemian Forest. In the past, animals were driven from Bohemia to Schönsee on this route to the market. On the almost 88-kilometer-long hiking trail you come to the Bohemian border and can discover the typical sunken paths of the Sautreiberweg, which are only found here in such a pronounced form. Directly along the border leads the Sautreibergasse. The name already describes for which animals the path was used at that time. Although there are no more pigs here today, a unique view into the Šumava mountains offers a unique view. Very close to the Sautreibergasse is the abandoned village of Bügellohe.
