Kalmar is a beautiful, medium-sized town on the Baltic Sea coast. A very special landmark is the old castle with numerous cannons. Kalmar was originally located directly in front of the castle and covered approximately the area of today's district Gamla Staden. During the Kalmar War of 1611 to 1613, however, a large part of the medieval town was destroyed.

In Kalmar you will find a quite good selection of accommodation and supermarkets. With Outnorth there is also a well-assorted outfitter. It is definitely worth investing a day in a city stroll.
