A very interesting monastery with a small shop can be seen here. The monastery can be visited. Occasionally cultural events are also here. Right in the neighborhood you can see an old mill and a nice accompanying building. A detour after visiting Rubjerg Knude is definitely worth it!

Børglum Monastery is a former monastery complex in North Jutland in Denmark, which is now used as a manor. It was the seat of a bishop from 1134 to 1554.

The monastery is located five kilometers east of Løkken, a small fishing village on Jammer Bay. It is located in the municipality of Hjørring. The eponymous village of Børglum is about three kilometers east of the complex. There is a small lake not far from the monastery.
The building was built on a hill, so it can be seen from a great distance. Due to its exposed location, there is a distant view of the North Sea, which is five kilometers away.
The four buildings of the complex, the gatehouse, stables, main house and church, enclose a central courtyard. Next to the church, a narrow path leads to the herb garden.

The monastery complex is partly open to the public. It houses an extensive museum in which old clothes, medieval equipment, a wine cellar, documents and interiors from around 1900 (such as the kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom) can be viewed. The museum is particularly proud of a room in which Hans Christian Andersen stayed during one of his many trips. There is a permanent exhibition of old carriages in the stables. The herb garden and the church are also open to visitors.

A very interesting complex that dominates the landscape. A large church towers above everything, residential buildings, and farm buildings with a historic kitchen. There's also a small shop selling local handicrafts.
