In front of the evangelical church in Königstädten stands the memorial for the fallen of the First World War. On top of the rectangular cement stone is the figure of a mourning, kneeling soldier with a helmet, flag and laurel wreath. There is a cross of honor on the obverse, with an inscription below it. The names of the fallen and missing soldiers with the years 1914 and 1918 are engraved on both sides.
In the night from August 12th to 13th, 1944, the church, the vicarage and 86% of the town of Königstädten were destroyed by British bombers, who probably wanted to hit the nearby Opel plant in Rüsselsheim. 22 inhabitants of royal cities lost their lives. On October 16, 1955, the first service was held in the rebuilt church.
