The Grand Théâtre de Tours houses the Opéra de Tours and was built on the former church of the Cordeliers.
In 1796, the church was transformed into an 800-seat theatre. In 1867, the theater was bought by the municipality but in 1883, a fire destroyed a large part of the building (only the facade and the four walls remain). It was then rebuilt as you can see today.

A building inaugurated in 1889 which is one of the essentials of Tours. A cycle path allows you to reach it from the station (3 minutes by bike), via rue de Buffon.
