Route description:
The Mittelland Canal branches off from the Dortmund-Ems Canal at Bergeshövede (DEK-km 108.36) and initially runs parallel to the mountain ranges of the Teutoburg Forest and the Wiehen Mountains to the east.
It crosses the Weser near Minden (MLK-km 102.5) and the Leine near Seelze (MLK-km 151.5) and crosses the northern parts of Hanover.
West of the Anderten lock (MLK-km 174.2), the water level of the Mittelland Canal up to the Münster lock on the Dortmund-Ems Canal is at a level of +50.30 m above sea level.
