The name of the hamlet comes from the homonymous canal of fluvial origin which in ancient times was crossed by the Via Annia; in 1923, in fact, the remains of a Roman bridge were found on the same course in the locality of Fiumicino (now Cittanova).

You can go along the Grassaga canal from the hamlet of Grassaga, extending from via Santa Chiara di Campo di Pietra to via Chiodo in the Levada area: of course, it is a trail, a tractor road that requires a MTB or gravel bike, but following the shallow waters of the canal you discover fields, vines and crops that cannot be seen from the roads. Beautiful landscape when you glimpse the church of San Nicolò di Busco.
