Groß Nordsee was first mentioned in documents in the 13th century (...) The estate experienced its greatest prosperity under Wilhelm Hirschfeld, (...) a trained farmer from Hamburg, (...) in 1819 he acquired the farm and turned it into a model estate. He introduced crop rotation. (...) Opposite the estate he built himself a burial site, which he called Elysium. Today only a dilapidated ruin indicates its former existence.
