Bike Touring Highlight
A very nice place to sit comfortably on the canal and watch the ships. Big pots and small sports boats.
The ferry is free like everyone at the NOK. The ferry can be easily reached from Krohnshagen and Kiel. Cycling is very easy on both sides of the canal.

The Kiel Canal is an artificial waterway, the construction of which not only cut through landscapes, forests and fields, but sometimes also villages and existing country roads. The large road and rail routes were connected by gigantic bridges, while the smaller ones are “bridged” by ferries. A total of 14 ferries are in use along the canal, which transport cars, bicycles and pedestrians day and night, from one bank to the other, free of charge due to an imperial decree. For anxious passengers, it should be said that they are probably the safest means of transport, because there have been no noteworthy accidents in over 100 years of history!
It is always interesting to translate with the Landwehr "Kolberg" ferry, since you can usually see one or more ships crossing the ferry route.
